Job Description
Job Summary:
The Night Porter plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel during night hours. This role involves providing excellent customer service, ensuring the safety and security of guests, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of public areas. The Night Porter assists with various tasks such as handling guest inquiries, conducting security checks, and supporting the front desk team.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Assistance:
- Welcome and assist guests arriving or departing during the night.
- Handle guest requests promptly, such as providing extra amenities, wake-up calls, or information about hotel services.
- Assist with luggage handling and transportation for guests.
Security:
- Conduct regular security patrols of the hotel premises, including corridors and public areas.
- Ensure that all doors and windows are properly secured.
- Respond to any security or emergency situations, following hotel procedures to ensure guest and staff safety.
- Monitor and control access to the hotel during night hours, including the management of entry for late arrivals.
Front Desk Support:
- Assist the night audit team with administrative tasks as required.
- Check guests in and out when necessary, using the hotel’s reservation system.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and end-of-day reconciliation.
Housekeeping and Maintenance:
- Ensure that public areas, including the lobby, lounges, and restrooms, are kept clean and tidy.
- Report any maintenance issues or damages observed during patrols.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks if required, such as changing light bulbs or setting up the breakfast room.
Communication:
- Provide accurate handover reports to the morning shift, highlighting any issues or incidents that occurred during the night.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction and efficient hotel operations.
